Why aren't diets helpful and how can hypnotherapy help?
Diets make us crave even more the foods that we are not “allowed”, leaving us feeling frustrated and deprived. Diets normally involve reducing the amount you eat and/or severley restricting the number of calories you consume. When you do this your body gradually reacts and a natural (rather unhelpful!) mechanism kicks in whereby your body thinks it is being starved and then over time your metabolism slows down (the speed at which your body burns calories). Many people try diets or slimming clubs and often they lose weight but slowly notice that the pounds creep back once they reach their target weight because they stop controlling their food and revert to their old bad habits having been ‘let loose’ from their weekly meetings or strict diet regime. On my 1st session I was hopeful but full of doubt, thinking “this can’t work for me I have been like this for most of my life.” I left the session feeling absolutely no different to when I went in. But that evening I did my weekly shop and found myself in the fruit and vegetable aisle for more than 35 minutes (time that was previously allocated to the cake and chocolate aisle!). To my absolute surprise I was able to walk past the chocolate aisle without actually going up there to get my “ normal” weekly chocolate bar, the ones I ate before I even got them home!
